"Drummers" delight! Even at the Golden Colorado NEIC, I've
heard the people there comment on the draw of the drums over
that of the available computer seismograms. I've been there
afew times, and its the drums that draw the obvious attention
from the visitors....the monitors get a glance and thats about it.

They keep the drums for backups, but I imagine they will hear
a howl if the computers do finally replace the drums.

I think its a kind of attachment to the past sometimes, but if the
kids are drawn to the drums, I can't really explain it, except for
possible the drums being physically real and the computer
monitors aren't quite the "real" thing?

Take care, Meredith Lamb
