I concur with Angel that Kulhanek's book is by far the best. It's worth
the investment. Here's another very useful book but it's hard to find:
Ruth B. Simon, Earthquake Interpretation, A Manual for Reading
Seismograms, William Kaufman, Inc., Los Altos, CA, 1981.
Lastly, Modern Global Seismology by Lay and Wallace is really good. There
are new and used copies here:
