Hi Dave,

       Yes, diamond polishing is required. You can use diamond paste in 
either oil or water and a copper polishing tool. These can be made from either 
copper tube, or soild copper with holes bored in it or a U folded copper sheet.
       The diamond beds into the surface of the copper and does the cutting. 
You need a fairly coarse paste, at least to start with. I can buy paste in 
syringes. I use grades labelled coarse and medium. They produce a mirror finish.
