The Trigger information on the left side of the Alarm dialog box is used to
trigger event files. The Auto Save Time info is used to control the length
of the event files after an event has triggered WinSDR.

Yes, you only want a short time for the Pre-Trigger time. This setting and
the Trigger Number are used to filter out spikes in the data. The
Pre-Trigger timer is set when the STA/LTA ratio gets equal too or high then
the STA/LTA Ratio number. The channel will go into an alarm state if the
ratio stays equal too or high then the STA/LTA Ratio number for Trigger
Number of times within the Pre-Trigger time period. Once the channel
triggers, the pre-trigger timer is cleared and trigger time is set to the
Trigger Time. The channel can't trigger again until this timer times out.

Hope this helps.
